A Petition…

Posted on June 30, 2008  | 1 Comment

…on behalf of a little girl you all might remember. A dog please. Oh, yes, I know I just had baby brothers, but can you manage to convince my parents to get me a dog? Please? Oh, sweetie! How can they resist? I mean, you convinced them to give you a peanut butter and ketchup sandwich for lunch–you can do ANYTHING!!! Seriously. PB&K. Not something I will be trying anytime soon.

Let’s not forget her brothers. Twins. Completely identical save two little birth marks and a few ounces. Thank goodness for small differences! And, I mean small. These little guys were not even 6 lbs yet!

Did you yawn when you looked at that image?

img_8897.jpg

I love how little they look sitting in their daddy’s lap.

A quiet moment with mom.

And, a shot of their ultra cool nursery. Thank goodness for hip clients!!! Thanks guys. It has been awesome working with you!

Oh, and I know…I am technically out of office until Wednesday, but I am like a kid at Christmas with new images and could not resist posting a few.

Dancing In The Street…

These were taken at our block party for summer solistice. I love how Georgia dancing means Georgia in flight!

img_8444.jpgimg_8447.jpgimg_8458.jpg

I just wanted to say I’m out of the office until July 2nd, so emails and phone calls will not be returned before then. On a more positive note, I had a reschedule and I now have an opening on Saturday, July 5th if anyone is interested. It would be short notice as I would not let you know until the 2nd, but if you’re up for it–so am I!!! And, watch next week for tonnes of stuff…so much stuff I might need a couple of weeks to post…Happy Canada Day Calgary!!!!

A Little Playing…

Posted on June 24, 2008  | 3 Comments

And a whole lotta work. I’m soooo busy I think my head is going to spin off and fly to the moon! Seriously.  Took some time to location scout the other day with the fabulous Alicia Price Can you tell where we went? Hmmm…

img_7872.jpgimg_7868.jpgimg_7796.jpg

Can’t decide which version I like best….

img_7747bw.jpgimg_7747.jpg

So, I wanted to reiterate that my session fee is going up on August 1st, but my availability is open for the year, so if you want a session with me and book before then for any open time slot, you’ll get the current session fee. Plus, over the last week or so, all I’ve done is answer emails(at least that’s what it feels like)…my summer is nearly booked. So, act fast ;) Just wanted to pop in before the week flew by and I didn’t post anything! Happy Tuesday!

Father’s Day 2008

Posted on June 21, 2008  | 1 Comment

Okay, so we went away camping on Father’s day with a bunch of fabulous dads. I’m afraid that I’m getting so far behind on my own personal photos that I’ll never catch up. I’m like a photo hoarder…I have soooo many on my harddrive(it’s big…and I mean seriously big…my harddrive that is) that I fear will never get their proper due. BUT I promise to my friends who spent this weekend with me that once I get one more gallery up, I’ll tackle the rest of these for you all to see. I just had to share a few so you knew for sure that I ACTUALLY took photos that weekend!

img_7470.jpg

A beauty who graces the pages of my website and blog often….in a 10×20 crop(I think that is how I see the world in that crop).

img_7506.jpg

Our gracious hosts…when are we doing it again?!!!

img_7570.jpg

And, my favorite shot from the weekend. This is my Jack and Jack’s bestest of best buds. They’ve literally known each other all their lives and it warms my soul how they hold hands and, often, hold each other to express their affection. It will make me sad when they realize that ‘dudes’ don’t so much do that. Yesterday, his mom told me that ‘I’ wants to marry Georgia. Wouldn’t that be perfect?

What Warms Your Heart?

Thanks to Jinky’s blog(see being a blog stalker can be a good thing), I found this incredible video and I changed what I was going to write about this morning. Just like that. I’m going to tell you what warms my soul. Georgia. Georgia singing her mommy-ma song that she wrote for me and sings all the time throughout the day. Jack. Jack when he elongates words as only an almost 6 year old can. Or when he asks a string of questions I can’t answer…or when he says things you can’t say as an adult like ‘run for your life’. What warms your soul?

How about The Image is Found? Check out their Canadian Pics from their holiday last year(you’ll have to search their blog). These guys totally rock.

A Little Miracle…

img_7678.jpgimg_7657.jpgimg_7740.jpgThat’s what she is with her big, beautiful eyes, her adorable baby rolls, and the gorgeous smiles she inspires from her parents without even trying. This is a baby that is very close to my heart. A long time in the making but so worth the wait…welcome to this world. I can’t wait to watch you grow ;)

Downtown Calgary Maternity Session

Posted on June 17, 2008  | Leave a Comment

Yes, after we got…ahem…acquainted inside, we moved outside to the back alleys of downtown Calgary. Who knew in amongst the bags of garbage, the broken discarded bottles, and other unmentionables, we would find such beautiful light! And, incredible signs–AND anyone who knows me knows, I’m a sucker for a cool sign. Add all that up(plus the fact that they are a gorgeous, totally in love couple) and I must admit to having a difficult time narrowing down what to share with you all. So, here goes…

img_6601haze.jpgimg_6627.jpg

Look at how tiny she is…like she eats ‘Only Donuts’…but, she’s with me and unfortunately, the sign drew me in ;)

img_6677.jpg

A train went by as we were doing these shots…at first, I thought he must think we’re weird. Then, I realized that he had probably seen a LOT of crazy stuff there! This must be pretty tame ;)

img_6700.jpg

When I saw this sign, I literally said ‘Oh yes it is!’

img_6725.jpg

And, a little back alley belly flare. After all the rain that we’ve been having, I couldn’t resist soaking up the sun on this shoot. It actually even rained while we were out and about, but only for two minutes. I don’t know about you all, but I’m so DONE with the rain. Thanks for hanging out with me you guys! I can’t wait to meet your little one.

Fall in Calgary!!!

Posted on June 16, 2008  | Leave a Comment

So, the stalkers subscribers of my blog and my past clients heard all about my fall news last week. Now, it is time to let everyone in on it! My fall schedule is now up. Pretty much if you want your images in time for Christmas, you should book one of these dates. I might open up a few more in November, but if you book one of these days, I’ll guarantee you get your products in time to order by my Christmas delivery deadline of December 1st. On my schedule, you’ll see something new! Surprise! For the first time ever, I’ll be doing ‘Short and Sweet’ sessions. Half hour blocks of time for $75 designed to help you get the images you need for beautiful Christmas gifts. There are two of these events and a limited number of spots each day, so book soon. Digital files, storyboards, photo jewellry(which I don’t regularly do, but think it might make a beautiful stocking stuffer), and fine art canvases will be available. So, if you want all the details go here and if you want to book email me now :) fall4.jpg

The other thing that I am super excited about announcing is something I’ve been hoping to do for a while now. The ‘Not So Short, But Still Sweet’ session is an opportunity to truly capture your family in a unique and exciting way. Known in photography circles as ‘day in the life’ sessions, I follow you around for a full day–capturing bed head, temper tantrums and giggle fits. It’s an extremely custom session and I make sure to design the day and it’s presentation in a way uniquely suited to your family. Collections start at $3500. If this is something that interests you, you can read more about it in the ‘details’ section of my website and you can most definitely contact me and we can talk about it.

So, last but certainly not least, another change is coming. On August 1st, I’ll be raising my session fee to $200. For anyone who books their session before that date, you can secure your spot at today’s price of $125. Being a blog stalker watcher has its benefits. Book now! And spread the word. Fall will fill up fast!

Friday’s Favorites

and a sneak peek of a sneak peek. That happens a lot, doesn’t it? Well, the truth of the matter is–I’m a bit like a kid at Christmas with new images. I can’t wait to open them. So, even though I am off for the weekend, I processed two from yesterday’s shoot and I love them soooo much, I thought I’d share.

img_6675.jpg

I love this…there’s a baby in there ;)
img_6564-10×20bw.jpg

A 10×20 crop again…I love it so. This daddy to be was soooo sweet. I can’t wait to see him with his little girl :) There’s more to come from this shoot, so I’ll tell you all about it then!

On to Friday’s favorites…hmmm…today’s blog is actually a children’s photographer! I love her work and the name of her company Blue Candyland. Her blog is ‘Life in Blue Candyland.’ Check it out and be inspired…

http://bluecandy.typepad.com/my_weblog/

While you are all being inspired, I will be off making s’mores with my mom’s group for a father’s day camping excursion without my husband. Sound weird? Yes…it does, but my husband will be celebrating father’s day with his father in a canoe on some river in Northern Saskatchewan. Doesn’t that sound all manly? Not if you knew the fellows who are going ;) Happy Father’s day to all the wonderful dad’s I know(and the soon to be dad’s).

Windy Maternity Session

Posted on June 10, 2008  | Leave a Comment

So, when I was getting these shots ready for this sneak peek, Bob came into my office to have a look as he often does. He looked at them quietly and then asked, wasn’t this a maternity session? I said, yes. He said, then how come all the shots for their sneak peek are of their kids? So, then I went back and grabbed a couple of maternity ones to do. But, then I had a dilemna–I had too many shots for the sneak peek. Now, I like to be fair–I try not to favor one kid over the other, but if I was fair then I’d be putting up their whole gallery…argh! It’s tough being a fair photographer! So, I’m going to put ‘fairness’ aside for the moment(because as you can see–Dad is only kind of in one picture as well!). Good thing that little boy has yet to make an appearance! Oh the dilemna I’d have then!

Thanks for hanging out with me guys–in the wind while the rain held off. The girls outfits look so good against the green grass though that I know it was the right decision!

img_5877.jpgimg_5905.jpg

I LOVE this shot…I love how the wind is moving her hair and the look on her tiny little face…I just plain love it.

img_6350bw.jpg

And, a ‘mother earth’ shot. I love how this turned out sitting in the weeds…I mean wild flowers.img_6158.jpg

And, I couldn’t resist sharing this one. I know she’s not ‘looking at the camera’, but if the wind in her hair isn’t the most beautiful thing…I love it! I just have one other thing to say–please mother earth, bring us some sun! I know that rain is good and brings life and all, but sun is good, too! :)
