This is Laurie. Laurie is a self-proclaimed blog stalker. She’ll be the first one to comment on this post. She is often the first one to comment on my posts
hee, hee…I’m just teasing her of course, but what a thrill it ALWAYS is to meet someone who has taken the time to send me so many sweet comments. An extra special treat because her own story turns out to be one that touches my heart deeply.
Too often these days, I hear people tell stories of how they desperately want a child, but–for whatever unknown reason, it just doesn’t happen for them. They have all this love to give, but their arms remain empty. Longing. This was Laurie’s story until one day around 2 years ago now when she met this little guy’s birth mother…and that woman entrusted her with the greatest gift anyone could ever give another person. And, this little boy is so loved and his parents so enraptured with each other that it filled my entire week with joy. Looking at the joy evident in all of their images. What a lucky little boy to have found his way into this family. And what a lucky lady, to have her longing arms finally filled. Such a special family that proves that Giving Is Awesome. They nominated my giving is awesome winner and you cannot imagine how thrilled I was to find out that I could give them this session as a thank you. The world works in wonderous ways.
I am often reluctant to tell the stories that I hear from my clients…the stories of how their family came to be. But, this story…well, it seemed so special. I hope Laurie doesn’t mind. A happy adoption story. Perhaps we can encourage someone to make the choice of adoption by showing the world the joy that it brings. I have such a wonderful job where I get to share in a family’s love. Just for a few hours…but, I am always made the better for it. Thank you Laurie.

I shared this song with Laurie and it spoke to her, so now I’m sharing it with you…and, Laurie…I’m a crazy music lover. sooo many beautiful songs, not enough time to appreciate them all![]()

Dana, these are three of my favorite people in the world, and you managed to capture them just the way they are! Laurie, you are absolutely beautiful inside and out, and it shows here! You are warm, wonderful, calm and patient parents, and Chase is one lucky kid to have you…What a beautiful family!
Just love your pictures. Fantastic colors, good sharpness and exellent compositions. What camera and lens do you use?
Thanks Maija…if you check out my FAQ section, you’ll see what I mostly use. I shot this whole session with my 24-70mm 2.8 and my Canon 5D Mark II.

the top pic is one of my favorite family shots ever. i absolutely love it, it’s so “active.” if that were my family, i would want it blown up on my wall. heck, i may even ask to order of print of THAT family.
wait. i don’t know how that happened. no offense to this family, they’re great, too, but i was referring to the post above in my comment.
