Do you know the song by Ben Folds–The Luckiest? It is a favorite of mine. Because I feel so lucky to have Bob. It’s mushy but it’s true. And, when I get invited into people’s homes and I can see a similar connection, I get all emotional. Especially when those people are about to welcome a baby. I remember that time…when it was just the two of us about to become 3…it was 8 years ago for us.

Before I get all sorts of emails asking me about this shirt–it is not a maternity top. I believe it is just a regluar top and it came from the store Kismet. Yes, I think it is totally awesome, but this mom to be is a pretty wonderful model. I absolutely adore how the pattern formed a heart right in the center of her belly

And, um, yes I know you are all having home envy…it is pretty spectacular. And, guess what??? It is an apartment. Calgary has some pretty awesome apartments I am learning lately.

Such a beautiful mama…I was sighing while I was putting this together. Isn’t she just glowing? Seriously.

Right before we did this session, I got an email from the daddy asking me if it was okay if he hired someone to do this mama’s hair and makeup for the session. Ummmm…are you kidding me??? Is it okay? It’s more than okay…I highly recommend it. Not only for the sake of the images, but for the confidence it creates. Professional makeup artists know how to make you look fabulous in images while you still look natural. This lovely mama’s makeup was done by the fabulous Elaine Amos ‘make-up artist on the run’. If you would like her contact info, please let me know!! And, ummmm, ladies…seriously? What a great present for his love, right? I liked this guy before I even met him

This was such an intimate session for me. I found it hard to choose the right images to share as many of them felt too personal. So, this is what you get. I can’t wait to come back and capture the wee baby in that belly!!! Any day now!!!

***Just a note on availability: I have a spot or two left in March.  One at the end of April. And, May is booking fast. Even June is already getting booked. I will always do my best to accomodate everyone, but it is always best to book early to avoid disappointment.

Is this mom to be not just glowing?? Seriously? I cannot explain what an honor it is to me to be invited into people’s homes to help them remember special times in their lives. For this mom, the journey to motherhood was…well, it wasn’t so straightfoward, but here she is. Full of life. And love. And, oh so beautiful. This baby is going to be showered with love.

Since the baby is going to be showered with love, is there a better place to photograph that belly then in their awesome shower?? I think not…

These last three images are part of a series of images that are amongst my favorite maternity images ever taken. I am so happy the mom said I could share them with you all as I am literally overcome everytime I see them. This family had a beautiful house(as you can see from the images). AND, the mom had all of her clothes on a rolling rack for me to choose from–so yes, I chose the striped dress. AND I love the way it made her belly look…so curvy. FABULOUS. What a wonderful day–sipping tea, chatting, and shooting. I cannot wait to go back for the newborn session! Won’t be long now!!!!
