Okay…I have a weird sense of humor. I actually totally LOVE this image-I love the texture of the boardwalk, the huge diaper with the ultra hip cover, and, of course, the cute little guy just hanging out. You might remember this couple because their maternity images were on here not that long ago. Well, they are the awesome clients who told me about the ice cream. They are also awesome because they brought their emotions. That won’t make sense to everyone, but to me it means that I showed up and instantly was getting images of connection that touch me. There was absolutely no need on my part to work at bringing it out. This family just is. I love when that happens ![]()

I think dad has her beat. Look at him beaming down at his son! I think I’ll call this one ‘pure joy’.

I love that they are looking at each other here!

If you look closely, you can see me in his big, beautiful eyes.

Okay, so I had to show one of these. I have others…but I am in a big world little people phase. These guys actually walked out into the freezing cold glacier creek and stood there while I captured this. AND, it was their idea! It has been wonderful to be invited into your family to capture these memories. Thank you!

A long awaited sneak peek for a patient family in Saskatoon. Yay! I hated making them wait so long so they get a big sneak peek. You never know what you’re gonna get in one of my sneak peeks. Sometimes more traditional stuff…sometimes, well, sometimes not so much. The image above is a more traditional type shot of mine that I had to include because the expression on his face fills me with joy. Isn’t he the cutest? Well…today I feel a little more comfortable sharing some of my more artistic type shots because their mom is an artist. An etsy artist–the Charm Lady How did she find me you might ask? Well, if you not a regular reader you might not realize that I have a slight etsy addiction. In fact, while looking up her shop to paste the link here in my blog, I got sidetracked and almost bought a ring. Hmmm….I might have to go back. The nice thing is she has actually made me some pendants with my own images on them. If you buy a jpeg from me, you might consider having her make you one
Sooo…on with the sneak peek…

AYKM? That is online speak for ‘are you kidding me?’…seriously…isn’t this so beautiful?! And, to think, there was a tornado watch on that evening!!!

This is what I mean by more artistic…
Lovin’ the sunflare!!!

Uh hello childhood?
Having never ~ahem~ had a wedding they don’t have any images of the two of them. Hope this solves that issue.

And, a less than perfect image. Yes, there is soooo much wrong with this. I know, I know…it’s blurry. But, if you are a regular reader, aside from the etsy thing, you will know that I am in search of the perfect swing image…this is pretty dang close to me. I can just feel my 6 year old self getting ready to jump off! Love it…just catching up! Glad to get this out to this wonderful family!!!

This family invited me to come exploring in the forest behind their house. Well, well, well…who knew? It was so beautiful there and, really, the perfect place to capture this family together as they spend a lot of time there(who wouldn’t?). Just to make their house that much more fun, they are welcoming a third into the mix in August. When you make kids this gorgeous, why stop?
Okay…the hair. It’s fabulous, isn’t it? See…in my house the boy got ‘the hair’…of course, this little girl is 4 and already talks of how she likes to straighten it when it is wet. What is she NUTS?!!!! Just look at how gorgeous the light is in it?

I really love images of the parents having a quiet moment. Afterall, it is their love for each other that created this family.

Just mom…waiting for babe. Oh! And, for those in the know–these guys won a contest of mine a while back for a free session! Keep your eyes open because I have some contests coming up!

So, I knew I’d get a long great with this couple when they suggested an abandoned road we could use as a location. I love to go ditchin’. You know…pull over on the side of the road and take shots of kids running through the beautiful long grass(and the occassional weed). In my house, that’s called ‘Ditchin’. My favorite activity. If you add to that a cute 6 month old full of drool and gorgeous blue eyes–you get my favorite morning activity.
If the look and the drool on this one don’t just make your heart fill with joy I don’t know what would!!!

This family shot is a ‘me’ shot. Which means it makes me happy.

Look at the size of daddy’s arms? Boys will need to be careful with this beauty!!!

And, if we all looked this good at 6 months postpartum the world would be far more populated ![]()

When I plopped her down in the middle of the road(okay a driveway, but still) she just wanted to eat the rocks, so I called off the shot. The mom pointed out that there were less rocks in this spot!

After a morning of ditchin’ everyone should take a nap like this. Isn’t she the sweetest thing? Seriously. Thanks guys!

Look at this little bright eyed girl…isn’t she the sweetest? So tiny and new…so short and sweet
She gave her parents a bit of a fright by making an early appearance, but, she’s home now…in daddy’s arms.
Her parents might look familiar to my blog stalkers…they’re the beautiful, red wall couple holding hands in my banner. I love that their love for each other and their little girl oozes. What a wonderful thing to witness.
Born on the evening before the Calgary Stampede parade, we thought a little cowgirl blanket was in order. Her dad thought he’d be at the rodeo the day these images were taken. Ha! He was doing something way more important than that…

Thanks guys. I have loved working with you!!! Enjoy every second.

I keep thinking that I should have an ‘outtake’ gallery! You know a gallery full of babies peeing, kids having tantrums, and dogs running into shots. This was too funny as we were trying to get a certain shot, this friendly neighbourhood dog came by and slobbered on the mom to be. I love that she just welcomed him into her space…but that is this couple…extremely welcoming. I had a great time with you guys…and, you already know this, but I was extremely impressed at the dad to be’s eagerness. He made sure we got the right shot and the right light and the right…everything. I can’t wait to see him with his baby!
Check out the view from their place…how awesome is that? And, when she answered the door wearing a shirt in my favorite green, I knew they’d be cool ![]()

She had wanted a silhouette…I don’t have a soft box
, but this is mine using Mother Nature’s softbox!

This one is entirely inspired by my wonderful friend, Alicia…
And, the shot we were trying to get when the dog so rudely interrupted us! My watermark band looked out of place, so I left it out. This to me is the definition of a Calgary mom to be. Can’t wait to meet your little one!!! Thanks for the ride in the invertible

So, this is a large sneak peek…because I couldnt’ narrow it down and also because, truth be told, this is my cousin’s family and if I don’t show lots, I’ll hear it from my biggest fan. And, if you don’t know who that is, then you don’t read my blog enough(think about who is your biggest fan). We had a session at Heritage Park yesterday…I think it wasn’t tooooooo painful. And the results are super sweet–I mean look at those blue eyes? How can these kids be related to me and my dark eyed kids? Crazy…but if you see the oldest and my oldest together it’s like looking at picture of my dad and his twin sister(their grandmother)…somehow it all makes sense.
Note to self–when I say things like ‘I’m going to shoot my cousin’s family’ out loud I should make sure that only people who know me are in earshot.
Seriously, blue eyes and pink sparkly lip gloss–her dad is in huge trouble in 10 years!!!

This shot to me is what that age is all about…

Don’t even get me started about this one!!! Dad is going to be investing in some heavy arsenal to ward off the young men…

This image is just plain dreamy…

And, mom and dad…inside ‘the dream’…living the dream…that’s for sure
What a fun morning…

This session was super sweet for me. It took place in a house literally down the street from the place where we lived when we were in this same time in our life. At home adjusting to life with our little boy. AND, I got to see some amazing photos and hear some pretty cool stories about this couple’s travels. Antartica–seriously?! Who’s been there? Safari in Africa–check. Oh yes, and we were married in Costa Rica. Right….so guess what this guy will be doing in a few years…no doubt
I love these two images of mom and dad with babe…

PS…July is officially full. August has one…maybe two spots left. Then we’re on to September…just keeping ya all in the loop!

…on behalf of a little girl you all might remember. A dog please. Oh, yes, I know I just had baby brothers, but can you manage to convince my parents to get me a dog? Please? Oh, sweetie! How can they resist? I mean, you convinced them to give you a peanut butter and ketchup sandwich for lunch–you can do ANYTHING!!! Seriously. PB&K. Not something I will be trying anytime soon.
Let’s not forget her brothers. Twins. Completely identical save two little birth marks and a few ounces. Thank goodness for small differences! And, I mean small. These little guys were not even 6 lbs yet!
Did you yawn when you looked at that image?
I love how little they look sitting in their daddy’s lap.
A quiet moment with mom.
And, a shot of their ultra cool nursery. Thank goodness for hip clients!!! Thanks guys. It has been awesome working with you!
Oh, and I know…I am technically out of office until Wednesday, but I am like a kid at Christmas with new images and could not resist posting a few.

That’s what she is with her big, beautiful eyes, her adorable baby rolls, and the gorgeous smiles she inspires from her parents without even trying. This is a baby that is very close to my heart. A long time in the making but so worth the wait…welcome to this world. I can’t wait to watch you grow
