What I Did On My Summer Vacation…

I’m so fortunate to have a husband who realizes that moms sometimes need a summer vacation, too. So, for mine, I volunteered to work at The Secret Workshop in Seattle. Well, they had a secret guest there…

img_7959.jpg

All nonphotographers are wondering who this is…well, ask any family photographer and they will tell you that it is Tara Whitney. I got to hang out with the one, the only Tara Whitney;)What an awesome way for me to spend my summer vacation!!! For those who aren’t crazy photographers or crazy scrapbookers, Tara Whitney is a rockstar of family photography. I can go on and on about how much it meant to meet her, but if you read my blog on a regular basis, you will probably know that it meant a lot to me. Plus, it helps that she is such an awesome person(exactly as you would expect if you are a blog stalker follower of hers). Thank you, Tara, for being so generous to share of yourself and your talent! It is immensely inspiring! I have other images from the weekend and I do plan to share(I even promised one mom), but my monitor is having technical difficulties, so editing is on hold until those can be resolved.

Out of Office

…until Monday. I know I’ve been away a lot lately. What can I say? It’s summer and I have official business. Well, at least I’m giving some business–probably to Bath and Body works…maybe to Hanna Andersson…possibly Anthropologie. And, if I’m really lucky, Target.

I’ll return all phone calls and emails on Monday. Later skaters;)

Just Because…

Just because there are a lot of shots like this…

Doesn’t mean I didn’t get any like this:

Just because I’m finished processing their sneak peek and I can’t wait to share, I’m doing it tonight instead of tomorrow!

Funny thing…I worked with this mom ~ahem~ a few years back at Roots in West Edmonton Mall. Hard to admit, but it’s true. It took us about 20 minutes to figure that out. I’m sooooo glad that we did or I don’t think my focus would have been the same! What a gorgeous family she has now! And–OH!–if you were wondering what a storyboard was, the second image is a 10×20 storyboard with three vertical images. I personally find that size a little bit small, but it’s great for a smaller space;)Thanks guys!

I’m Going Digital, Calgary!!!

After giving my collections great thought, I have decided to go digital with them. Well, not entirely…but pretty close. Why? A couple of reasons, not the least of which is if I was hiring a photographer, I would look for digital. Not only does that give you the ability to print as many copies as you like, but it also gives you the ability to archive the negatives in case…well, just in case. Lately, I have heard so many stories of people losing precious images for varying reasons. I always include multiple copies of the disc so that you can spread them around for safe keeping. The other things that I’m offering in the packages are things that I LOVE…canvas credits…storyboards(huge ones–which I far prefer). If you purchase a collection, prints are then cheaper(and my prints are sooooo nice). On August 1st, the only prices that actually changed are my session fee(now $200), my a la carte jpeg(now $150), and my session album(now $1100). I actually changed suppliers for my session albums which is why they increased in price. They are 100x’s nicer…in fact, I would say that they are gorgeous. I have promised myself to take some images of them and post them on here, but I had promised myself to do that with my digital packaging for this announcement and that didn’t really happen in a timely fashion. So, I promise all of you to post images of my albums by the end of the month. Promise

Stay tuned…I had an awesome session yesterday with a gorgeous family that I can’t wait to share…AND…if you live near Saskatoon and are waiting for your gallery–I promise it by the end of the week! PROMISE. I’m on my way to getting caught up!!! Yay! And, oh yeah…COMMENT CONTEST PEOPLE…ITUNES GIFT CARD!!! A couple of people are looking like they are going to walk away with it–why not give them a run for their money?

*just a note that anyone who booked a session before August 1st secured themselves my old pricing(don’t panic!).

Baby On Board

img_6931.jpg

Okay…I have a weird sense of humor. I actually totally LOVE this image-I love the texture of the boardwalk, the huge diaper with the ultra hip cover, and, of course, the cute little guy just hanging out. You might remember this couple because their maternity images were on here not that long ago. Well, they are the awesome clients who told me about the ice cream. They are also awesome because they brought their emotions. That won’t make sense to everyone, but to me it means that I showed up and instantly was getting images of connection that touch me. There was absolutely no need on my part to work at bringing it out. This family just is. I love when that happens;)

Beaming mom….
img_6718bw.jpg

I think dad has her beat. Look at him beaming down at his son! I think I’ll call this one ‘pure joy’.
img_6738bw.jpg

I love that they are looking at each other here!
img_6665bw.jpg

If you look closely, you can see me in his big, beautiful eyes.

Okay, so I had to show one of these. I have others…but I am in a big world little people phase. These guys actually walked out into the freezing cold glacier creek and stood there while I captured this. AND, it was their idea! It has been wonderful to be invited into your family to capture these memories. Thank you!
