This One Time At Band Camp

This one time…at band camp…this cute saxophone player had eyes for a hunky tuba player. Things never aligned though and they graduated high school never having been a couple(much to the dismay of both mothers). Then…many years later when she was now a band teacher and he was doing some sort of grown up HR thingy;)….they both found themselves single. Their mothers got involved. A first date of toboganning lead to another date…and then we couple years later a proposal–at the same hill where they had that first date. Don’t you hate it when your mother is right? But, hey…you gotta love a happy ending;)

So, they got married in Saskatoon a couple of weeks ago. Things went off almost without a hitch…one chipped tooth did make everyone happy to have a dentist in the bridal party, but aside from that it was blue skies all day. I have to mention that I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard during a ceremony. The priest who officiated was a riot. The man should do stand up. And, it set the tone for the rest of the day because the bride and groom could just not stop smiling. A very positive start to a marriage if you ask me;)I also thought it was awesome that the bride waited in the music room before the ceremony. I couldn’t help noticing that the artwork from the students held some good advice…We also managed to sneak away to the very same hill where they had their first date. If you know me, you know I am a sucker for a location with meaning;)

A fun night for sure…and I should mention that this groom is also Bob’s cousin. Soooooo…this bride is a new member of the out-law club;)There are only male cousins on that side of the family, so all of their wives like to laugh that we belong to an exclusive club. Truth is…it’s mainly a drinking club;)but we are super excited to add another member to our ranks!!! Congratulations to Ivan and Teri!

The wonderful folk at NAPCP(the same folk who named me Photographer of the Year) asked me if I wouldn’t mind sharing a session with them. I picked this one as it was a recent fave…why don’t you head on over there and check out what I had to say;)

Summer is fading fast…take advantage of the beautiful weather before it slips away…

Just a note to say that on Saturday, August 20th, I am having Short and Sweet sessions in Bowness park. What is a Short and sweet session? It is a 20 minute session with the goal of creating 10 images. There is a maximum of 5 people due to the time constraints. The session fee is $125. The digital files from this type of session are $800. A la carte prints start at $50. I have 3 spots left:

Come have an ice cream down in Bowness Park with me;)

Hair

I’m obsessed with it right now. Hair. Little girl hair especially. How many colors there are in it. How carefree it is. How the sun hits it…how the wind catches it. Especially that.

Here is a little friend of mine from Denver. Look at how beautiful her hair is? I must have 20 shots like this…this one is my favorite. Today anyways…

Happy Monday,

Color or Black & White

getting ready for her close up…to me, the answer to the question: color or black & white is so totally obvious for this one, but I’m curious? What do you think?

Not a perfect shot–a slow shutter speed, high iso, spotty light, but…it is one of those shots that the minute I took it, I loved it. I should also mention…first shot of the session;)Love when that happens….

Thanks to all of my incredibly patient clients this summer…the days are getting away from me. I promise to get caught up one day;)

Sooooooo…color or black and white?
