The “L” Session–Light, Leaves and Love

To say that this little girl is loved is a huge understatement:)But, can you blame them? I mean LOOK AT HER??? Isn’t she as cute as a button? I mean…seriously.  It was hard to shoot because I just kept wanting to pick her up and squeeze her;) It was such a pleasure to spend a fall evening with this family out in Cochrane. We just went for a walk and got to know each other…there was talk of getting ice cream, but we never did cause we just took our time exploring and having fun. These are the images we created(look at the way they all look at each other–isn’t it great?)…

Another fall family session…with the snow that fell today, it seems like a long time ago now.

Beautiful Banff Family

Early fall light is fabulous…especially in Banff…which was such a blessing as this wonderful family loves flare shots. She wanted lots in her gallery and Mother Nature kindly cooperated:)Not like the last time I shot them, when after flying me all the way to Winnipeg, this family had a grey skies kinda session.

When the session was over and the mom had received her gallery, we had a chat about how wonderful it is to have the same photographer every year. She said, she wondered if the two sessions would be too much a like…she was surprised at how different they were. Then, she said, she thought that the wonderful thing was how comfortable her kids were with me. It was like visiting with an old friend…love that. I have always had the pleasure of photographing this family while they were on vacation–last year Winnipeg, this year Banff…next year, we are hoping to do it at their home in Ontario. Home sessions are always my favorite, but vacation sessions are pretty good, too. Families are relaxed and in that whole ‘vacation groove’ that you get. And, let’s face it, if you vacation somewhere in Alberta–Banff is a pretty gosh darn nice place to do so:)

Finally posting September sessions…

Just a note to say that I am pretty much full for the year. I always make exceptions for past clients and newborns. Because of my trip to India, I am also pretty full until the end of February. If you are hoping to get on my calendar for that time period, please contact me soon:)

Talk Back

So, last night I got a message from this sweet family who I had the privelage of meeting and documenting about a year and a half ago. I asked them if I could share it. Mostly because I thought it was a unique perspective. Here is what they had to say:

So, we just went through our pictures by you. On a random whim. Totally overwhelmed with newer appreciations–we talked about cost. And what each image would be worth to us today. We decided on $1000 an image. And wondered it’s worth in 10 years. And so on. Every image, (and there are so many) has the same irreplaceable value. Holy cow. We are so lucky to have done that at that time, and have had you do it. Beautiful, stunning, uniquely consistent, magical work. Can’t wait for next years. Priceless.

She closed with ‘Love you, Lady’:)  Is it any wonder that I love my clients. I had to share…if you would like to see their original posts:

Part one

Part two

And, looking back at their blog posts has made my cry happy tears this morning…I love my job. Witnessing such love is a beautiful thing…

Happy Halloween!!!

This is my stop motion project from last year…and here is the link to the one from a few years ago. I love to do them and attempted to start one yesterday, but I feel like the halloween thing has been done, so I’m working on a different one altogether. Stay tuned for halloween pictures:)

Happy Halloween Everyone!
