Two By Two

The setting summer sun…two sisters in their backyard with their little puppies ‘Marco’ and ‘Polo’:)Jumping on their trampoline, lazing in their hammock(remember their hammock?) and just goofing around in the long grass that surrounds their property. Always a treat to visit with them…

I’d say I miss the summer sun, but you really can’t complain with this beautiful fall we have had. Just to let you know…I only have a couple of spots left with guaranteed Christmas delivery.

Happy Monday:)

P.I.T.A. and Icelandic Horses

P.I.T.A. (pain in the ass)…that’s me. At least when you are made to travel with me…I force you to stop on the side of the road while I do my thing. Which is sometimes wait for the light to get better or a cloud to clear or a cloud to hide the sun or the wind to blow. You laugh, but it is true. My family has become very patient with this…

In Iceland, I got all these ideas in my head. Expectations of things I wanted to shoot while I was there. Before I even got there…I mean, I knew I wanted to get certain images before I had even landed on Icelandic soil. And, that is ludicrous. Seriously…that is one of the things I learned in Iceland. You have no idea what the weather will be doing or the sun will be doing when you arrive in the spot to take this image you had in your head. Such an incredible lesson to just let go of expectations and wait for it to happen. And, that’s what I did…except when it came to the horses.

I seriously had no idea how many Icelandic horses we would be seeing. They are everywhere. I wonder are there as many horses as humans in Iceland? I knew I wanted to take a great horse image, but the light and the weather NEVER cooperated. It was never just right and I was patient. I saw how many horses there were and I knew that it would happen eventually. Then, one night near the end of our trip in Southwest Iceland I saw the sun hit the horses and made Bob turn around and pull over in the ditch. I needed to get one good shot.

Well, what I didn’t anticipate was how incredible the moment would be. The silence of the ending day(it was pretty late by this point–maybe even 10:00pm). Everyone sitting in the car waiting for me to get my shot. I fired off one of the horse that was the closest, but then the most amazing thing happened. It was like he called his friends over and they all came to greet me asking me to take their pictures:)Jack and Georgia got out of the car and had their magical Icelandic horse moment. Truly. We just sat on the side of the road feeding them the long grass from the ditch listening to the wind. It was so peaceful…and one of our favorite memories of Iceland.

These images are almost straight out of camera. The color has not been adjusted at all…that’s the setting Icelandic sun.

We miss Iceland:)

Soft Summer Sun

This is a lovely little family I have recently met:)Next year, I will have the pleasure of documenting their wedding. This summer I had the pleasure of getting to know them during their engagement session. If they can look this good on a casual summer evening, I can only imagine the awesomeness that will be their wedding.

This wonderful mom also runs Runway Tweens which is a great birthday party for young fashionistas. Such a tough age to come up with a birthday idea–this is sure to be a big hit:)And, they take care of everyting right down to the treats:)

Still blogging summer sessions…by the time I get to fall, it just might be winter;)

Peace

…and love. That was the flavor of this beautiful fall night in Cochrane with the family of a self-proclaimed ‘blogstalker’;)What a beautiful little girl…I think it’s her eyes. Full of light, laughter and curiosity. How lucky is she to have two parents who love her so much:)
I don’t know why I even play this game in the fall…I know you will all choose the color image…BUT…I love how the bark of the trees looks in the black and white so I had to show you both. So, color or black and white? hahahahaha…

I am so lucky that in my job I get to see happy people in love with each other and with life.
